Motivation

I was reading about a former CEO of a Fortune 500 company and was intrigued by a very interesting question; how do you motivate someone when you can’t fire them? This particular CEO was extremely successful in making sure that the employees really enjoyed working for his company. He had been a director for missionary trips prior to becoming a CEO and his leadership style reflected exactly that.
So how do you motivate someone when you can’t fire them? This question specifically applies to us today in ministry. Some people are quickly engaged but how do you maintain them moving forward to achieve the vision God has for your church or ministry? I mean, you can’t fire someone you didn’t hire in the first place. And even if you could fire them, that might not be the best option anyway. It’s important to remember that the greatest resource we will ever have is people. If we look at them beyond resources and truly care about them and love them for who they are and what they mean in our lives, we might be able to motivate them beyond anything any person might encounter.
Making disciples and loving them as Jesus demonstrated as he led his 12 is key to leading a ministry in the direction that God intended. By the way, love is more powerful than firing someone.
How do we accomplish this? Well, that’s what we will set out to discover.

Blessings,
Pastor Ephrain Gaxiola
